Investment flows are massive in consumer tech (games, watches, devices) and enthusiasm is high in retail tech sectors, yet, by our measure Femtech funding is just 0.2% of Aggregate VC spend YTD3Q21. Viewed relative to healthcare, Femtech is just 1% of Healthcare VC investment and 2% of Healthcare deals. Femtech is underweight by most measures.
The lack of Femtech capitalization stems from a perfect storm of a lack of experience with women’s health, the awkwardness-stigma-taboos around the subject matter, and hurdles in understanding due to mindset or bias.
